This technology blends sources such as natural gas or methane with diesel to more efficiently power commercial diesel engines. These inventive dual fuel systems deliver an abundance of benefits to businesses, communities and the world around us. The dual fuel concept combines lower cost and more efficient natural or reclaimed gas sources with diesel fuel. Because our dual fuel systems use as much as 50% low cost natural or methane gas content, we can dramatically reduce operating costs – by as much as 40% or more depending on market rates. In addition, peak shaving strategies can reduce operating costs by switching to a dual fuel generator at times when utility power reaches peak rates during the day. For generator systems with diesel fuel with natural gas – as much as double the run time of a backup generator. This allows systems to run longer and more economically, something of paramount importance during times like a natural disaster.

Lean, clean and green

As worldwide energy consumption grows at an exponential rate, so does the cry for more efficient and environmentally responsible solutions. International efforts such as the Kyoto Protocol call for a global effort to reduce the level of greenhouse gases, especially among the largest industrial nations. American Power's cleaner running dual fuel systems deliver on both those points. This hybrid system utilizes a high proportion of natural gas so engines run cleaner inside and out. They operate more economically, while reducing emission levels. Through the use of reclaimed methane gas and bio diesel, a 100% green solution is possible through using these renewable sources. This solution is actually able to generate commercial grade power using high-performance diesel engines.
